Are you Fighting Post Divorce Depression and Addiction?
Man is not a platonic being. Infact no living being is platonic for that matter. May be that’s why the people who give up on the sexual front are called sages and gods and are worshipped. Though as portrayed sex is not a liability in the practical terms. Everyone has the right and need of conjugal happiness. Probably that’s why people marry and set up a family. And that is also probably why, when a person splits from one’s love a very unbearable and bitter aftertaste remains. And this aftertaste often translates into the vice called depression.
Nobody wants to go through the pains of a broken relationship. And I don’t know why but somehow the conjugal relationship is the most fragile and the most vulnerable. Interestingly in the pages of history also most of the tragedies cropped from losing of a partner in a relationship. Romeo and Juliet being the classic example. Similar kind of tragedies are not found in case of say, the mother -child relationship.
A broken love affair becomes very difficult to bear for many. There are many people who take to addictions after a broken relationship or after a divorce. Taking to addictions is also a repercussion of divorce and a sign of growing depression within the concerned person. The grieved person feels that addiction will help in keeping the painful realization of the reality at bay. As addiction keeps a person in a state of trance, he or she remains detached from the painful reality. But addiction is only a temporary respite if at all it can be termed as a respite.
The question is, how can a person fight the grieve of a broken relation. Though it is difficult, but he or she has to somehow overcome an unsuccessful relationship. Well, the answer is not available to me also. Only a divorce consultant or the like persons can show a way out of the heartbreaks. But what I can say is that first of all the couple should try to work out their differences and their problems before breaking of just like that. There should be every possible effort to save the relationship. If needed professional help should also be sought out. Even after all the possible attempts if the relationship falls apart, then there is nothing that can be done. Sometimes it is seen that parting ways seems to be a better option than staying in a futile and an unsuccessful relationship.
Following a broken relationship if a person falls into depression which is but very natural and subsequently into addiction, he or she is only creating worse circumstances. Experts say that addiction doesn’t actually take a person away from reality. I know it is easier said than done but falling into depression can only complex matters for the aggrieved person. There is no way out but to face the pain and overcome it or atleast make it dormant.
